Um flytjendur:
Caterina Compagno Italian flutist and piccoloist, Caterina has 3rd Flute and Piccolo of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Always passionate about orchestra, she has worked with orchestras such as Opernhaus Zürich, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Camerata Strumentale di Prato, Flemish Chamber Orchestra and many others in Italy and abroad. In Italy she studied in Florence (bachelor) and in Milan, where she graduated with a Piccolo Master with Nicola Mazzanti. She then moved to Zürich, Switzerland and studied at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste where she obtained two Master’s degrees: the Master in Specialized Music Performance - Orchestra with Matthias Ziegler and the second one, Master in Music Pedagogy, with Sabine Poyé Morel and studied piccolo with Pamela Stahel and Haika Lübke. She also did an internship with Opernhaus Zürich, taking lessons from the principal flutist Maurice Heugen and played several productions as a substitute in the orchestra. In Scotland she got also a Trial with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for the position of Sub-Principal flute and piccolo. Winner of several scholarships, Caterina had masterclasses with Emmanuel Pahud, Michael Kofler, Emily Beynon, Davide Formisano, Andrea Oliva and many others for flute and Peter Verhoyen, Natalie Schwaabe, Gudrun Hinze and others for piccolo.
Auður Edda Erlendsdóttir started playing the clarinet at age seven with Lárus Grímsson. Later she focused on folk and jazz music with teacher Haukur Gröndal. In 2011 she started studying classical performance at the Reykjavík Conservatory with Freyja Gunnlaugsdóttir and graduated in 2014. That same year Auður Edda was accepted to the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest where her professors were Zsolt Szatmári and Csaba Pálfi. In 2019 she earned a master’s degree and started a specialization in orchestral playing at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, finishing two years later. In Zürich her professors were Fabio di Casola, Robert Pickup, Bernhard Röthlisberger and Felix Genner. Auður Edda was a prizewinner of the 2017 Soloist Competition held by the Iceland University of the Arts and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in which she performed Carl Nielsen’s Clarinet Concerto. She was also a winner of the Iceland Chamber Music Festival’s Competition with cimbalom player Gabriela Jílková, with a program of contemporary and 20th century music. Auður Edda has played with various groups throughout the years, such as the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Zürich Opera, Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, Ligeti Ensemble, Ostravska Banda, Elja Chamber Group and more.
